We had an amazing trip exploring the San Juan Mountains on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in August, 2019. There are three popular towns in the area for outdoor enthusiasts to explore numerous jeep trails. Some will take you to over 13,000 feet in elevation on dangerous, narrow shelf roads. Ouray, Silverton and Telluride, Colorado are unique and each one offers a different perspective of the area. It was an incredible to see the effects of several avalanches over the winter as a result of a season of record setting snowfall. Some trails were still closed and at one point we drove through the middle of an Avalanche!
