The San Juan Mountains

We had an amazing trip exploring the San Juan Mountains on the western slope of the Rocky Mountains in August, 2019. There are three popular towns in the area for outdoor enthusiasts to explore numerous jeep trails. Some will take you to over 13,000 feet in elevation on dangerous, narrow shelf roads. Ouray, Silverton and Telluride, Colorado are unique and each one offers a different perspective of the area. It was an incredible to see the effects of several avalanches over the winter as a result of a season of record setting snowfall. Some trails were still closed and at one point we drove through the middle of an Avalanche! Enjoy this video with some of the highlights from our 5 day journey in my 1999 Jeep Cherokee with over 250,000 miles.

Nevada Silver Trails

Recently my dad retired after 42 years in the Aerospace industry. With all the extra time off, I wanted to take him on a week long excursion through central Nevada to visit historical mining towns. We would start off in Death Valley and make our way towards highway 95 to begin traveling north towards highway 50. This route would take us through Gold Point, Goldfield, Tonopah, Belmont, Austin and finally Virginia City near Reno. Ghost towns, whiskey saloons, hot springs, wide open trails and historical landmarks were just the beginning of an epic adventure we would remember for years to come. We were fortunate enough to have my friend Tom and his dad, Gunner along to share in the experience. I’m sure we’ll do another trip like this again!
